Week 1 - Discussion 2

Henry L. Aulds Memorial Branch

The Aulds Branch of the Bossier Parish Libraries lies within the small neighborhood of Shady Grove in Bossier City, Louisiana. The library serves anyone within the South Bossier community or anyone who lives within the Bossier City & Shreveport area.

The Library, being a part of a system of Bossier Parish libraries, has access to a variety of collections even if the specific library does not have it in stock at the moment. The Aulds Branch does not offer any type of special collections, however that isn't to say that the main branch doesn't offer any.

This particular library called to me because it is the library I have used since I was a child so I have a connection with the building even though it has been renovated and all of the old staff are gone.

The collective Bossier Parish Libraries features a blog on their website or rather, blog entries that answers many, many questions that the community can send in. The library also takes to posting news on events and happenings on the blog, the most recent post being made on October 22nd, 2020.

Blogs can be an effective use for libraries and getting word out about certain events going on within the library itself and the Community. A blog, however, should not be the only form of social media that a library utilizes when reaching out to the community. There should be multiple ways that the library can post information about events so that they may create a wide outreach for active library users or those seeking specific library programs/services/events.
